Washington DC – Great news is coming in for authentic food aficionados as the emerging chef Rufino Bautista has revealed his plan to open up his own restaurant. This culinary venture will see its opening next month at the site where Las Placitas is currently located – 4724 14th Street NW Washington DC. The main cuisine of the upcoming restaurant will be surf and turf as Mr. Bautista plans to put seafood and steaks at the center stage. The celebrated chef Rufino Bautista emigrated from El Salvador and developed an early love and passion for food working at his father’s farm outside of Intipuca. In the late 90s, Mr. Bautista relocated to Washington DC where he acquired a job as a busser. Later on, he found work at Asia Nora where he received culinary training from none other than two of the industry’s best Chef Haidar Karoum and the late Chef Patrick W. Deiss. He worked his way up starting out as an expeditor, a massively challenging job, and then went to work full time in the kitchen. Rufino Bautista has wowed countless patrons with his impeccable control over delivering balanced gourmet dishes that any food connoisseur will appreciate. Currently he’s working at Estadio as an executive chef and because Mr. Mark Kuller (may he rest in peace) and his son Max Culler believed in him, he has shown immense creativity whilst tinkering with the menu without changing the soul of the classics. According to Mr. Bautista: “In El Salvador men don’t do much cooking, especially on the farm. I was always intrigued, and when my sisters were cooking I’d sometimes jump in and make my own meals.”
Spanish palate inspired menu will be a welcoming addition to Washington DC’s neighborhood where many are searching for sumptuous culinary diversity. Rufino Bautista has always tried his best to rely on local and seasonal ingredients which has proven to be one of the underlying factors of his recent success. With his latest culinary venture, he’s committed to bring out the simplicity and temptation of the umami flavors. Given the long list of accomplishments, known dedication toward food, and impeccable palate and skill; Rufino Bautista’s new restaurant will be capturing headlines soon. Don’t forget to book your reservation or you might miss out! “I was lucky to learn from the best guys. I’m pretty passionate, and you’re only going to be good at something if you love what you do.”
